The artwork of Kandra Orr will be featured at the FCCA during October. The opening reception will be Friday, October 3 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. The title of the show is 'The Spirit of Nature' and is a collection of Kandra's art focusing on a visionary view of nature and Native American subjects. Kandra is part Ojibwe and is inspired by Native American culture. The rest of her collection can be viewed at www.kandraorr.com.

Bob Gibson’s latest book is titled "A Passion for Flowers". It is 40 pages of flower studies. The pictures were taken at Chapel Hill in North Carolina, Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania, and in Nice, France. The pictures for this book were taken over a period of over five years. The Brush Strokes Featured Artist for this month is Sarah Flinn. Her theme is "Scenes Across America". Featured scenes are: The Alamo in Texas, Crater Lake in Oregon, a lighthouse in Maine, the Grand Canyon in Arizona, and several scenes from Virginia. Sarah feels there are so many things to see in the USA that she wanted to put some of them on canvas. She and her husband have traveled cross-country twice by car by different routes from Maryland to Oregon.

Bev Bley has paintings in a new gallery in Pembroke, Maine called the Cappiccino Gallery and the Eastport Gallery in Eastport, Maine. She has also been joined this month in Maine by other Fredericksburg artists in Eastport to do plein air painting.

Brush Strokes mourns the sudden passing of Nancy Diamond and her husband Howard. A funeral will be held at Beth Sholom Temple in Fredericksburg on Friday August 22nd at 3pm. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the whole family on the loss of this vibrant couple.
