Her love of creativity began as early as age five and never faded.
In fact, it only grew stronger.
Beverly Toves notes that her passion led her to pursue her BFA degree in painting and sculpture from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
However, her artistic talents soon took a pragmatic turn. In her spare time at college, she taught herself portrait photography, and this new artistic avenue blossomed into a career as a portrait photographer.
Many will know her as the artist/ photographer behind the award-winning business, Portrait Excellence by Beverly.
But having retired recently after 40 years as a portrait photographer, Beverly has returned to her easel.
She says, “Three years ago, God in his infinite wisdom lit a fire in me that lead me back to my first love.”
Her magnificent work not only reflects her well-honed, intuitive skills of observation and composition but also demonstrates her commitment to expressing the “soul” of her subject through paint, pastel or graphite.
Beverly says, “I have found that as a photographer my eyes are captivated by the light and composition but as a fine artist I seek to go beyond that in my interpretation of the shapes, values, and colors.”
And Beverly certainly captures the heart of her subjects. Without a doubt, all can agree that Beverly is at home with fine art.
Beverly reflects, “Life’s road is full of twists and turns and my desire is to find the beauty in each new bend.”
