Danette Taylor
Danette started painting 10 years ago taking classes and private lessons locally and at Ros Stalcup seminars for acrylics.
You have probably seen her paintings at many Fredericksburg eateries and juried exhibitions in the Fredericksburg area including Liberty Town Art Center, Sammy T's, Dragon Brewery, Sunken Well, and others.
Danette says, "My journey into art has been evolutionary, evolving as I have evolved as a person. I have always found art and the whole creative process to be relaxing and therapeutic, my mood dictating my work.
I drew a lot as a teenager and looking back I think being the oldest of twelve children it was an escape from the chaos that was my family life. As an adult life got busy and I lost myself in being a wife, mother, and businesswoman leaving little room in my world for art.
Now in retirement I have rediscovered “me” through art. I am evolving once again and once again finding value and benefit in art, but my medium now is paint. The subject matter, colors, and textures as well as their placement on my canvas reveals pieces of me to myself and to those who view my paintings.
I will continue to create, much like Grandma Moses who didn’t start painting until she was in her 70’s and I will continue to evolve discovering more about myself and the world."
