Marianna Smith is a Virginia-based children’s illustrator who loves illustrating heartfelt stories for child audiences. In January 2021, Smith’s illustrations debuted in J.J. Guzman’s The Adventures of Mole Boy, a middle-grade novel that was self-published by the author. Smith has been an active member of the SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators) since 2020.
Marianna contributes to her local art community of Fredericksburg by showcasing her illustrations at Brush Strokes Gallery and writing the gallery’s newsletters. She also teaches art full-time at Chancellor High School as well as after-school enrichment art programs at Fredericksburg Academy.
Having graduated summa cum laude from VCUarts in 2020, Smith received a BFA in Communication Arts and a minor in Creative Writing. She was awarded the Mallory Callan Scholarship from VCUarts in 2019.
