Meet Artist Megan Lee Crockett
Art is a large part of Megan Crockett's life.
She began winning art contests at an early age. Growing up in Sequim, Washington and later moving to Northern Virginia, Megan found inspiration in nature's organic forms as well as in a city's architecture.
After serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, Megan returned to her first love: art. She earned her art degree from the University of Mary Washington during which time, she interned at the Fredericksburg Center for Creative Arts.
Megan’s artistic style is varied: she moves easily from realism to the whimsical abstract. Some of her art also has a modern look to it. Style is inspired by deco art with patterns and the reflection of light. She especially enjoys ocean, landscape scenes and downtown Fredericksburg and its surrounding areas.
In addition, she creates still life and some religious paintings. She currently works in acrylic, oil and ceramic.
When she isn’t creating beautiful art, she also loves a long walk or jog and visiting new places and the ocean. She is a teacher’s aide at a private school in the area also. Megan and her husband James settled in Fredericksburg many years ago and are active members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
