Sarah Lapp creates intuitive abstract works in mixed media and oil paint.
A Fine Art graduate of The University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, where she graduated in 2010, she has rapidly become internationally collected.
In addition, her work belongs to many, many private collections in the United States within a very short period. Recognized for its innovative, thought-provoking, richly colored and textured composition, Sara's work has been published in an international featured artist book.
During her time at Mary Washington University, Sarah was honored with numerous awards and grants.
Sarah find her inspiration in associating thought with visual expression. Her recollections of a place, the angle of the sun in a memory, stories when there is nothing else left of their subjects, serve as her departure point for each new work.
She explains that she learns much about her association with the context during the process and gets a sense of resolution through her works of art.
Sarah says, "I receive immense gratification knowing that I have animated what is lifeless into a boisterous celebration of energy and life or that I have pursued a hauntingly elegant study in subtlety."
And indeed, her work exhibits both energy and elegance. Dimensionally rich in layers and textures, and held together by articulate color plays, she creates pieces that beg intimate investigation, and reward her viewers again and again.
