Revealing the sensual side of color, contemporary artist, Peggy Wickham, offers a new look at the way colors impact us in her exciting new show entitled “Exploring the ‘Extra’ in Extraordinary.”
Wickham explains that her aim is to replace a visual memory experience with the sense of “awe” that brilliant color can inspire regardless of form. With fluid gestures, she ventures deeper into the abstract realm of art.
Abstract art frequently starts out as a realistic idea. The subject may begin as a sunrise on a winter's day, or a frozen landscape, but as the work progresses, it takes on a different feeling as if the wind has commemorated the visual experience with a stream of color.
Her new works are dramatic, and extraordinary to behold; featuring fresh brush work and free flowing color. This brave new direction
takes us away from our comfort zone in the world of realism, however, it gives us an opportunity to gaze into the unknown and visualize our own interpretation of artist's intention.
Brush Strokes Gallery offers a unique collection of original fine art, photography, glassware, handcrafted jewelry, cards and prints. See Ms. Wickham's work on display July 31 thru August 27, from 11-5 daily or stay late on Thursdays and Fridays until 8:00.
